RESOLVED – O365 Credential Prompts – Friday, 5/8/20, 12:30 pm EST (9:30 am PST)

Users of Office 365, hosted by Microsoft, may receive repeated credential prompts within the Outlook client. Per Microsoft, users that have access to other protocols such as Outlook on the web or mobile devices can access their email without issue.

Microsoft has posted the following health advisory regarding these issues:

  • Current status: Microsoft is continuing deployment of the fix and expect it reach all of the affected environments within the next 72 hours.
  • Scope of impact: This issue affects a subset of customers and users who are connecting to the service using Basic Authentication and utilize service-based search or a Focused inbox.
  • Start time: Tuesday, May 5, 2020, 12:00 AM (4:00 AM UTC) Preliminary root cause: A recent update to the Exchange Online service contains a code issue that is causing repeated credential prompts for basic authentication users

RESOLVED – O365 Teams Connectivity – Tuesday, 5/5/20, 4 pm EST (1 pm PST)

Users of Microsoft Teams, hosted by Office 365, are reporting widespread connectivity issues. As of this time, communications are not halted entirely, however significant delays may be experienced and status messages may not display properly.

Microsoft has yet to post a health advisory regarding these issues, and as such has no ETA for an expected resolution.

These issues are solely on the Microsoft systems. We will update this post when more information is available. If you are experiencing issues, we will be happy to record and report to Microsoft on your behalf.

O365 Subscription Name Updates – 04/21/20

Microsoft is updating the names of its Office 365 subscriptions for small and medium businesses (SMBs). There are no price, feature, or business model changes to your subscriptions. Effective April 21st you’ll see the following name changes on the 2.0 Platform to stay in alignment with this update:

  • Office 365 Business Essentials will become Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  • Office 365 Business Premium will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  • Microsoft 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Standalone commercial desktop client subscriptions will become “Microsoft 365 Apps” subscriptions. This includes Office 365 Business and Office 365 ProPlus.

This update will provide a more comprehensive spam filtering process and enhanced functionality of associated components. The spam filtering system is fully redundant and each system will be updated individually. There is no expected interruption of either inbound or outbound mail flow during this update. 11:00 am EST: Users of Microsoft Teams, hosted by Office 365, are reporting connectivity outages along the East Coast and in the Midwest. As of this time there has been no announcement from Microsoft regarding when service will be restored.

Global Relay has published the following notification for an upcoming hot fix release for Global Relay Archive 9:

DETAILS:

Date/Time: Friday, January 17, 2020, starting at 8 pm EST and lasting approximately 2 hours.
Release Type: Hot Fix
Description: A backend system upgrade to support Global Relay Archive 9 services
Customer Impact: During this release period, users will be unable to log in to Global Relay Archive 9. All messages will be archived as normal.

COMPLETED: Spam Filtering System Configuration Update – Tuesday, 1/7/20 11:00 am EST (8:00 am PST)

There will be an update to the configuration of the spam filtering systems to automatically perform sender validation on inbound emails on Tuesday, 11/7/20, at 11:00 am EST (8:00 am PST). This update will provide a more comprehensive spam filtering process by validating the sending servers on every email sent to eliminate the potential for sender address spoofing. The spam filtering system is fully redundant and each system will be updated individually.

There will be an update to the certificate that secures mail communication for the Exchange 2010 mail communications on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 7 pm EST (4 pm PST). There is no expected interruption of services during this update, however users with mailboxes on the 2010 platform may be required to reboot.
