Microsoft End-of-Support Notification: Android 4.4/Teams – Saturday, 8/1/20

Microsoft has published the following notification for their planned end of support for Teams on Android 4.4:

Microsoft will be retiring the Teams support on Android 4.4. It is recommended that users upgrade to newer Android builds, which is where Microsoft will continue to invest.

How this will affect your organization:
If you have devices running Android version 4.4: the exiting Teams build 1.0.0.2020050801 will continue to work on Android 4.4 for the next 2 months but there won’t be any app updates going forward.
What you need to do to prepare:
Instead of using Android 4.4, Microsoft recommends updating the Android OS version to 5 and above.

Global Relay Scheduled Maintenance Notification – Friday, 7/03/20, 8 pm EST (5 pm PST)

Global Relay has published the following notification for an upcoming scheduled maintenance notification for Global Relay Archive 9:

DETAILS:

Date/Time: Friday, July 3, 2020, starting at 8 pm ET (12 am UTC July 4) and lasting approximately 10 hours.
Release Type: Minor Update
Description: NEW – Thomson Reuters Rebranded to Refinitiv Messenger: References to Thomson Reuters have been updated to Refinitiv Messenger in Global Relay Archive 9 search controls, system folder (Thomson Reuters), icons, search results, messages, and help documentation.
Customer Impact: During this release period, Global Relay Archive for Refinitiv Messenger users may experience interruptions on searches involving the Thomson Reuters System folder.

Upon completion of this release, the Thomson Reuters System folder will be renamed to the Refinitiv Messenger System folder, and users will be able to conduct searches using it without interruption.
All messages will be archived as normal.

RESOLVED: Reflexion Service Delays – Tuesday, 5/19/20, UPDATED 6:45 EDT (3:45 PDT)

UPDATE: The Reflexion spam filtering issue has been addressed and delays should no longer be occurring for any users.  All deferred emails in our queues have been successfully relayed to Reflexion’s services.

 

ORIGINAL POST: Users of the Reflexion spam filtering service may notice a delay in sending and receiving e-mail messages. This is a temporary condition and no messages should be lost as a result of these delays. This impacts only customers consuming the Reflexion service.

RESOLVED – Outlook Client Authentication Prompts

UPDATE:

The security patch update for Exchange 2010 has been completed. Exchange 2013 is still underway. There should be no more repeated authentication prompts from Outlook clients and there is no expectation that the issue should repeat during the rest of the maintenance cycle.

ORIGINAL POST:

The security patch update for Exchange 2010 & 2013 is currently still underway. During this time, users may experience repeated authentication prompts when accessing email via Outlook Clients 2013 and 2010. Email can still be checked via Outlook Web Access while the patch continues at https://na02.msexchangeoutlook.com

COMPLETED: Critical Security Patch [Hosted Exchange 2010 & 2013] — Saturday, 5/16/20 10:00 am EST (7:00 am PST)

A critical security vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft’s Hosted Exchange that requires an immediate patch for both the Hosted Exchange 2010 and Hosted Exchange 2013 systems. This patch will begin implementation on Saturday, 5/16/20, at 10:00 am EST (7:00 am PST).  It is expected to take most of the day to complete.

Please note: the planned patch may result in brief disconnections of email clients as the front end servers are patched.  It may remove the ability to manage your hosted services for Microsoft Exchange 2010 within our Legacy platform, including user adds/deletes, quota changes and the like. There is no expected impact on the ability to manage hosted services within Exchange 2013.

RESOLVED – O365 Credential Prompts – Friday, 5/8/20, 12:30 pm EST (9:30 am PST)

Users of Office 365, hosted by Microsoft, may receive repeated credential prompts within the Outlook client. Per Microsoft, users that have access to other protocols such as Outlook on the web or mobile devices can access their email without issue.

Microsoft has posted the following health advisory regarding these issues:

  • Current status: Microsoft is continuing deployment of the fix and expect it reach all of the affected environments within the next 72 hours.
  • Scope of impact: This issue affects a subset of customers and users who are connecting to the service using Basic Authentication and utilize service-based search or a Focused inbox.
  • Start time: Tuesday, May 5, 2020, 12:00 AM (4:00 AM UTC) Preliminary root cause: A recent update to the Exchange Online service contains a code issue that is causing repeated credential prompts for basic authentication users

These issues are solely on the Microsoft systems. If you are experiencing issues, we will be happy to record and report to Microsoft on your behalf.
